Southside Virginia Doggy Fashion Show  & Luncheon

In 2010 Emporia Greensville Humane Socity started doing a family event. It was a Doggie Fashion show and Luncheon at the Golden Leaf Commands in Emporia VA. It is a great family event and it also includes the four legged babies of ours. the winner of the whole show will recieve $500.00 and will also get a dog bed, toys, treats, and food. Tickets go on sale March but you can inner your dog in Feburary at State Farm Insurance on Baker Street Emporia VA.

Cleve Baker- Master of Cermonies
Cleve Baker  can be heard on WPTM 102.3 Monday through Friday on the morning drive show with Charlie Beaver. Cleve is a big fan of the blues and has his own blues specialty show on WTRG 97.9 that can be heard on the weekends. Cleve enjoys spending time with his wife and watching NASCAR racing on TV on the weekends. Cleve is a huge animal lover and a great friend of EGHS. We are delighted to have Cleve back with us as our Master of Cermonies.

Meet Our Judges:

Matthew Gray
Matthew Gray is the Virginia State Director for the Humane Socity of the United States. In 2015 Matthew led The HSUS to a significent legislative victory in Virginia: passage of the Sente Bill 1001, prohibiting the sale of puppy mill dogs in Virginia pet stores and prohibiting the sale of dogs or cats on roadside, in parking lots and in flea markets. The law took effect July 1, 2015. Before joining HSUS in late 2014, Matthew served for six years as Executive Director of Virginia Public Safety Foundation. This is Matthew second year of judging. 

Lucy Metcalf
Lucy has been a judge for the show four five times now, she loves what we do and is a great supporter. Lucy lives in Roanoke Rapids, North carolina, she has remarkable pet health knowledge and exeripence. Lucy and her husband Bob raise and show Vizslas. they have been doing this since they got there first Vizslas in 1992, when they fell in love with the breed. They have had as many as five at one time, now they have two. we are so happy to have Lucy as a judge.

Julie Sokolowski
Julie is the treasurer of the Virginia Federation of Humane Socity and a shareholder with Wall, Einhorn and Cheritzer, P.C. in Norfolk, Virginia. Her areas of expertise include audit and accounting, compliance, finanical statement analysis, cash flow, and business consulting. Julie works with clients in a varity of industries including not-for-profit, goverment contracting, real estate and small business. Julie is the leader of the wall, Einhorn and Chernitizer.

Robin McVoy
Robin is an attorney and animal advocate in Richmond, Virginia. Robin is an active volunteer with Ring Dog Rescue, and has fostered close to twenty puppies and dogs for that organization in the last few years. She has been a member of the board of directors of the Virginia Federation of Humane Socities since 2008, and is a former recipient of the Federation's Bravo Award. Robin has spoken before the Richmond City Council and lobbied the Virginia General Assembly on animal welfare issues.

Cindy Gendron
Cindy is the HSUS Homes for Horses Coalition Coordinator. Although her current duties focus on horses, Cindy is no stanger to the smaller companion animals. She came to the HSUS from Virginia Beach SPCA where she was the Volunteer Programs Director. Cindy still volunteers for the VBSPCA and has fostered close to 40 shelter animals. She lives in Chesapeake VA and shares her life with her husband, two children, 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 horses, 2 birds, and a rat.

Michelle Wilson
Michelle began as a veterinary assistant and held that position. Upon completeing her groomer certification from Eastern Carolina Pet Grooming in Rocky Mount, NC. she started grooming. Michelle's natural calm and sweet disposition make her feel natural when grooming pets, even the wiggly ones. Her grooming skills and special affinity for animals make magic happen with every client.Michelle is married to her husband Tim, and they have 6 dogs and 4 cats.

Michelle Welsh
Michelle is an Assistant Attorney General in the Virginia Attorney General's Office. Michelle is in charge with taking all animals all animals law questions in Virginia. She frequently gives advice to local law enforement authories and posecultors all over Virginia. She is adjunct facutly for Animal Law at the University of Richmond Law School. She is also adjunct in the Criminal Justice Program at Virginia Commandwealth. She is the point person for all the animals law questions and is considered an expert on animal law. We are so honored and pleased to have Michelle back with us as a judge this year.

Laura Donahue
 Laura is the Virginia State Director for the Humane Socity of The United States. She works to help animals through legislation, corporate campaigns, citizens advocacy, coalition building and other projects with both local and national scope. Laura holds a Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland. She has a specialization in Social Action and Community Development. Laura resides in Richmond, Virginia with her two deloved canines and enjoys frequent trips to visit her family in Arlington and Charlottesville. we are so happy to have you back with us!!
